Magnetic Yokes are used for non-destructive testing of ferromagnetic materials such as mild steel and 3CR12. This process, known as Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI), detects weak points such as bad welds, cracks, or lack of fusion. These yokes are portable, easy to use, and require no external power, making them ideal for workshops and field inspections.
How Magnetic Particle Inspection Works
A layer of white, orange, or yellow paint is sprayed onto the test surface to create a visible background.
Place the permanent magnetic yoke across the area being tested such as welds or corners.
Spray black magnetic ink over the area. The ink particles gather at magnetic leakage points forming visible black lines.
These indications reveal cracks, lack of fusion, incomplete penetration and other defects both on the surface and slightly below.
